About Joy Sierra
Joy Sierra
Welcome, I’m grateful you’re here! My name is Joy, and I’m currently a Master’s in Counseling student at Naropa University with a specialization in Somatic Body Psychotherapy.
I am dedicated to providing a therapeutic space where you feel heard, seen, and understood. My approach is client-centered and holistic, focusing on the integration of mind, body, and spirit. I use a somatic lens in my practice, paying close attention to the body's wisdom and the way it points us to our deepest needs. My approach to counseling combines movement, mindfulness, nature-based practices, visualization, ritual, and expressive arts.
My philosophy is rooted in the belief that the body and mind are inseparable, and that healing is possible through incorporating bodily awareness into therapy. I believe in the healing power of the therapeutic relationship, creating a safe space that cultivates empowerment, intentional growth, and exploration in the present moment.
I offer ceremony and ritual creation when supportive to the healing process. My sessions are experiential, incorporating movement, visualization, and art as well as self-regulation and grounding techniques.
What led me to this work was a combination of instructing Kripalu Yoga, offering Usui Reiki energy work, farm-based and animal assisted therapy, and providing harm reduction first aid. These experiences have taught me the importance of attuning to the other’s needs, and welcoming full expression of self. In working with me, you will be met with empathy, a warm directness, and authenticity. I hold deep honor for the painful and challenging experiences in life and feel passionate about offering presence to others along their path.
I work with clients to help them feel more embodied, empowered, and attuned to themselves and the world around them. You deserve care, time to heal, time to explore yourself, and to digest life. I would be honored to support your process of being. Bring your passion, ferocity, and intuition. . . all are welcome here! Together we will discover you.
